Open Floor Dance

I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where I live, work and dance, the Wurundjeri people and the Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin nations. I recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. I pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

Open Floor

Open Floor is a movement, dance and meditation practice that teaches us to embody and explore a variety of resources, which we can then take into our daily lives to build resilience and enhance our relationships with ourselves and with each other. As we move together we explore what it is to connect and belong to ourselves, to each other, to community and to the larger web of life. Come and join us as we learn to deepen our awareness of self and other, so that we may engage more fully with the present moment and this precious life that we have been given.

Soul Full Dance is a monthly conscious dance offering in Seaford on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Regina Orchard, Kylie Shaw and Jane Tyrrell collaborate together to bring this dance to the community. Kylie and Regina bring their skills as Art Therapists and Well Being workers to support the community. Their mutual love of Permaculture has inspired this 2020 year of dance. Jane Tyrrell is a therapist, celebrating 20 years in private practice this year. She brings her wisdom, healing and love of the dance to her teaching of the Open Floor dance practice. Kylie Shaw is the author of the following:

In 2020 we will use our Open Floor embodiment practices to explore each of the 12 Permaculture principles! This is not a course in Permaculture but rather a "light sprinkling" introduction of some of the concepts and how they may be relevant to our every day lives as we move forward in today's environmental and social climate. You do not need any prior understanding of these concepts.

Permaculture has 3 core ethics:

  • Care for the earth.
  • Care for the people.
  • Fair share.
  • Here are the 12 principles (order may change)

  • Jan 19 - Observe and Interact.
  • Feb 16 - Catch and store energy.
  • Mar 22 - Obtain a yield.
  • Apr 5 - Apply self regulation and accept feedback.
  • May 3, 24 - Use and value renewable resources and services.
  • June 14 - Produce no waste.

  • (Dates to be confirmed for July- Dec)

  • July - Design from pattern to details.
  • Aug - Integrate rather than segregate
  • Sep - Use small and slow solutions.
  • Oct - Use and value diversity.

We are inclusive of age, gender, sexuality, race, ability and experience. Our hall has wheelchair access. We welcome and invite diversity and robust, vibrant community. No experience necessary, just a willingness to show up and move and include! $20 cash at the door Concession rates apply Children under adult supervision welcome.

  • Please bring a water bottle.
  • I would love to have you join me.
